FIELD TRIP 2022 VOLUNTEER PROGRAM FAQ
If you'd like to volunteer at Field Trip 2022, please read through the FAQ section below to determine if it's a good fit for you. When you are ready to apply, please fill out this form.
Q. What is required to volunteer?
A. All volunteer Field Guides are asked to work a minimum of one shift. Most shifts fall between 4.5-5 hours long.
Q. What do I get for volunteering?
A. In addition to the reward of being part of the festival’s homecoming, meeting new people, and making new friends, Field Guides also receive a Field Trip Field Guide t-shirt, a Field Trip keepsake gift, and the opportunity to enjoy the festival while not on duty.
Q. How long are shifts?
A. Most are around 4.5 hours long.
Q. When does the application close?
A. We will continue to accept applications until our needs are met.
Q. How does scheduling work?
A. All volunteers will be able to self-schedule, choosing their own shifts and assignments based on skillset and availability at the time of scheduling.
Q. What if there’s a band I have to see?
A. We totally get it, but this means that volunteering is not for you. Grab some friends, purchase your tickets, and have a wicked time. Although volunteers will get to see some music, we can’t guarantee that it will be your band of choice, and many Field Guides will need to be on duty while the headliners are on. If you can’t miss out, opt out.
Q. Will we have access to food?
A. Field Trip is a one-of-a-kind cultural experience and food and drink are an integral part of it. We highly recommend checking out our vendors and purchasing some tasty bites before or after your shift. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own snacks to store and enjoy at volunteer HQ (no glass containers please).
Q. Is parking included?
A. No, however the site is easily accessible by TTC. There is paid vehicle parking at Canadian Exhibition Grounds within close walking distance to Fort York/Garrison Common, as well as complimentary bike valet for those on bicycles.
Q. Can I volunteer with my friends?
A. Absolutely! We encourage you to sign up with friends or family so you can share the experience and enjoy the festival in your off time together. Due to self-scheduling we can’t guarantee that you will both be in the same assignment at the same time but if you sign up for your shifts together this should be pretty easy to accomplish. We’ll help wherever we can – because friends are awesome.
Q. If I have a shift in the evening, can I come early?
A. Yes – we highly recommend checking out the festival beforehand, however we need some assurance that you will return for your shift when scheduled once you have gotten into the festival for free. We ask for the deposit of cash or an item of equal or greater value as a one-day ticket ($100 cash, driver’s license AND credit card, cell phone, etc.). Check in at HQ and we will store your item(s) in a lock box and return them after your shift.
Q. Is this event family friendly?
A. Yes! Programming a family-friendly event is hugely important to us and we welcome children 12 years old and under for free, so long as they're accompanied by an adult ticket holder. We're putting together an amazing program of children's activities for various ages. Field Trip will have something for everyone!
Q. How do I get there on the TTC?
A. Go to the TTC Trip Planner to plan your route.
